Kelly Payne began training in 1986. She graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in Sociology and shortly after began dog training full time. She started her own dog training and doggie daycare center which was soon followed by a second dog daycare and over night facility.
In 2004 Kelly, along with 3 other passionate, hard working animal lovers set out to make a difference in the animal care community. They began a company called PetsIncredible. PetsIncredible developed an award winning animal training DVD series for people who adopted pets from shelters and rescue groups. These videos address the most common issues faced by families and their new pets, such as housetraining, litter box issues, chewing, scratching and more. In November of 2006 PetsIncredible was adopted by Discovery Communications / Animal Planet. Kelly then took over as the Director of Animal Training & Behavior and the Head Writer for Creative Content for the Animal Planet Pets Division.
She served for 6 years on the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) Board of Directors including 2 years as the Treasurer and her final year as the President. Kelly is currently a Professional Member of the APDT as well as the Chair Person for the APDT Communications Corps and a contributing editor for the award winning APDT Chronicle of The Dog magazine. Additionally, she is a clinical member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants through which she achieved the designation of Certified Animal Behavior Consultant. In 2001 she was among the very first trainers in the country to pass the Council for Certified Pet Dog Trainers test. In 2007, she was awarded the national Outstanding Trainer of the Year Award. She is an active volunteer and foster parent for the SPCA Suncoast in New Port Richey and dedicates additional professional services for number of rescue groups and humane organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
Kelly and her husband share their home with their beautiful daughter as well as their animal kids Nemo, Jasper and Odo.
